The Carmel Youth Center's mission is to nurture the potential of every child, to provide enrichment programming designed to enhance their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in a safe environment
The Carmel Youth Center was established and incorporated as a California 501(c) (3) non-profit agency in October of 1949. Bing Crosby founded the Center while he was living in Pebble Beach, and eventually helped form over two hundred private, non-profit youth centers. Of those 200 centers, the Carmel Youth Center is the only one remaining.
While Bing Crosby was the guiding force behind the formation of the Center, many community members actively participated in the organization of the Center, and some of those founding members have children who are sitting on the Board today. These founding members participated in the construction of the original building, which is still in use on the southwest corner of 4th and Torres in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
